SCHOOL OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
BACKGROUND
The School of Vocational Education was started as School of Agricultural Education in 1985/86 Academic Session with location at the temporary site and was later moved to the permanent site in 1990. The school nomenclature was later changed from School of Agricultural Education to School Vocational in 2001 following the establishment of new department of Home Economics Education in 1995/96 Academic Session and its Academic Activities took off in 1998. Â
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the program shall be:
- To prepare graduates with the right attitude to, and knowledge/professional competence in Vocational Agriculture and Home Economics Education who will:
– Exhibit thorough knowledge of job skills and career opportunities in Vocational Agriculture and Home Economics.
– Exhibit entrepreneurial skills for self employment and self reliance.
– Demonstrate positive human relationship and ability to work with people from diverse socio-cultural background. - To produce teachers who will be capable of motivating students to acquire interest in and aptitude for Vocational Agriculture and Home Economics.
- To develop in the student-teachers the appropriate communicative skills for effective transmission of Agricultural and Home economics information and skills to the students in the context of their environment;
- To equip the student-teachers with adequate knowledge and ability to establish and manage a model school farm and/or home economics related enterprise effectively;
- To provide a sound background to enhance further academic and professional progression of the student-teachers.
