SCHOOL OF BUSINESS EDUCATION

 BACKGROUND

The School of Business Education  is among the first Schools established since inception of the College in 1977. The school has two departments, Accounting Education department and Secretarial Education department. The two departments run Nigerian Certificate in Education and Bachelor of Science/Education programmes. The school graduated thousands of students to date, presently some of the lecturers and past Deans and HOD’s of the school are product of the school.

The school has enough offices, classes, lecture rooms, and a befitting model office, typing pool and modern computer laboratory for teaching and learning.

The school has so many committees such as the Research and development committee, Journal of Business Education of Gombe (JOBEG) committee, welfare committee, Exams’ committee. The school has a journal of its own called Journal of Business Education of Gombe (JOBEG) with its seventh (7th) publication now in circulation.

 

 OBJECTIVES
  • To produce qualified and competent graduates in business subject capable of teaching business subjects in our secondary schools and other related educational institutions.
  • To produce Business Teachers who will be involved in the much desired revolution of vocational development right from the Primary and Secondary Schools.
  • To produce Business Teachers who will be able to inculcate the vocational aspects of Business Education into the society.
  • To equip students with necessary competencies so as to qualify them for a post-NCE degree programme in Business Education.
  • To equip graduates with the right skills that will enable them to engage in a life of work in the office as well as for self-employment.

COURSES STATUS

All courses are COMPULSORY and Double Major.

 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
Duration of NCE Programmes is 3 years (minimum) and 5 years (maximum)

To graduate with NCE Business, a student must earn a total of 172 credits units as follows:-

  1. Business Education Courses including SIWES 108 credits
  2. Education courses (including project)             40 credits
  3. Teaching practice                            6 credits
  4. General studies                           18 credits
